A little help for your circle.

QuietLink Support

Contact: snk.spears@gmail.com

For technical help, account questions, privacy requests or safety concerns, include your app version, device model, operating-system version and a short description. Do not send passwords, PINs, enrollment/recovery keys or private attachments.

Create an account or sign in

Use quietlink.sujonkhan.xyz as the server unless your administrator specifies another service. For your first account, ask an administrator for a one-use enrollment key. Choose New User, enter the key, choose your own user ID and password, and accept the community rules. User IDs use 3–32 letters, numbers, dots, underscores or hyphens and are not case-sensitive. Passwords use 12–128 characters without control characters. Ordinary enrollment keys expire after 24 hours. A download or TestFlight invitation does not create an account.

After enrollment, use Existing User with your user ID or verified email address and account password. Updated apps remember your protected session across restarts; opening private conversations still requires the device PIN. Signing out does not require another enrollment key: sign in again with your password. Updated apps and the account website keep separate sessions. Sessions expire after 90 days without use or after 365 days in total; signing out, password changes and administrator recovery can require sign-in sooner. Older app versions still replace earlier sessions when they sign in. After sign-in, the weather home is available; Add Subscription opens the device-PIN gate for private conversations. It does not charge you or start a paid subscription.

Change login details or recover access

Use Settings → Change account ID or password while unlocked. Enter your current password to change existing login details. Your account identifier and conversation history stay the same. To add or change a recovery email, open Settings → Account email or Manage account on the website, sign in, enter your current password and confirm the verification link sent to your email. Your previous verified email stays active until the new one is confirmed. If you forget your password, choose Forgot password and enter your already-verified email. The one-use reset link expires in 30 minutes. Check spam/junk folders; if delivery fails or the link expires, request another. A verification link expires in 24 hours. If no verified email is attached, ask your administrator for a recovery key tied to your existing account. Enter it under New User to choose new login details. A completed email password reset or administrator recovery stops your old password and existing sessions. Email recovery requires a configured delivery service; if the app reports it unavailable, contact your administrator. A new, unbound enrollment key creates a different account and does not restore your history.

When upgrading an older installation that has no account password yet, use its original device PIN to verify the saved account, then choose a user ID and password. If the original PIN or saved session is unavailable, ask the administrator for account-bound recovery. Account recovery does not reveal or reset the separate shared chat PIN. Disabled accounts need an administrator to enable them before recovery.

Open a chat

After account sign-in, your device PIN opens the chat area. Each conversation has a separate shared chat PIN, supplied by your partner outside the app. Administrators cannot recover a forgotten chat PIN. Use People to start a conversation with an existing account.

Notifications

Allow notifications in your device Settings. In QuietLink, choose Settings → Check notification connection. Current clients show weather wording using your recent temperature observation; if it is unavailable or stale, the alert asks you to refresh weather without inventing a temperature. Open the app and allow optional location weather to refresh it. Older clients may still use custom wording. The service does not receive coordinates through the notification snapshot API. Delivery depends on device, network and system settings. Notification permission does not unlock a conversation.

Photos, videos, documents and voice

Tap the paperclip in an unlocked conversation to select an attachment, or the microphone to record a voice message. Supported attachments include JPEG/PNG/WebP images, compatible H.264/AAC MP4 videos and PDF documents. The total attachment, including its filename and format information, must fit within 20 MiB. UTF-8 TXT/CSV documents are limited to 8 MiB; AAC voice messages are limited to two minutes and 4 MiB. Received attachments open once and have no in-app Save or Share button. Your original files remain in Photos or Files. No app can prevent another camera or every recipient-made copy.

Share a chat theme or background

Both people need an updated app and a server with shared appearance enabled. Unlock the conversation, open its options and choose Chat theme & wallpaper. Select a color or a new photo, then save. The change applies to that conversation for both people; your partner sees it when their unlocked conversation next syncs. The selected photo is resized and encrypted before upload. It is a persistent background, not a view-once message. A color selection removes the shared photo. Reset shared appearance replaces it with the default theme for both people. Existing private wallpaper photos are never uploaded automatically.

If both people change the appearance at once, the first accepted save wins. Reopen the editor to load the latest version before choosing again. Offline or failed saves keep the server’s existing appearance. Blocking stops new shared-appearance changes; existing history and the last background remain available. Hiding a conversation for yourself does not delete its shared background. A background can be changed without deleting messages.

Calls

Both people must open QuietLink and keep the call screen open. Calls stop when the app backgrounds or the screen locks. Some networks need a configured relay before a call can connect. QuietLink is not an emergency calling service.

Disappearing messages

Choose a timer in Settings and save your message settings. Choose sent texts, received texts or both. The selection applies only to future messages and starts when the recipient first opens them; when both people set a relevant timer, the shorter enabled timer wins. Automatic expiry removes the active payload for both people. Older settings keep their existing outgoing-timer behavior until changed. Attachments always open once. A message's menu offers Delete for me; senders can also delete their sent item for both participants. Copies outside QuietLink are not erased.

Profile, friends and chat lists

Set a display name or select/remove a profile photo in Settings. JPEG/PNG profile uploads must fit within 256 KiB and 2048×2048 pixels; the server stores a resized JPEG without embedded metadata. Your account ID stays the same. Create a friend code and give it to an existing QuietLink user: it expires after 24 hours and works once. It is not an account enrollment or recovery key. Removing a friend does not erase chat history or block them.

Unread badges count incoming messages not yet marked read. Text is marked read only after it is opened, decrypted and shown; attachments still require an intentional open. Delete a conversation for yourself to hide your existing history without deleting your partner's copy. A new message makes the conversation visible again while old hidden history stays hidden.

Block or report

Use People or a conversation's options to block unwanted contact or report a concern. Blocking prevents new messages and calls between the accounts. Reports send only your chosen explanation, reason and account identities to your administrator. No private message or file is attached automatically. Settings also lists blocked people. Administrators can review safety reports and disable abusive accounts.

Delete your account

Request deletion without opening the app: email snk.spears@gmail.com with the subject “QuietLink account deletion”. Include only your QuietLink user ID and server address. Do not send your password, device PIN, chat PIN, enrollment/recovery key or private messages. We need to verify ownership before deleting the account and will explain the verification steps in reply.

Open Settings → Delete account, read the warning, type DELETE and confirm. This permanently removes your active account, password hash, verified/pending email and credentials, profile, friendships, settings, push binding, safety reports by or about the account, and every conversation involving it—including message, attachment, shared appearance and call records—for both participants. It cannot be undone. Hashed sign-in attempt counters may remain briefly, up to their 15-minute expiry. Older data can remain in manual backups or provider snapshots; these currently have no single fixed automatic purge period controlled by the app. Ask support about backup-specific deletion handling. Recipient-made and provider-held copies are outside active-database deletion controls. Signing out does not delete the account. The device access PIN remains. Backup and external-copy limits are explained in the Privacy Policy. Administrators can also permanently delete another account, with the same shared-conversation loss; they cannot use this admin action on themselves or remove the last enabled administrator. Users of older versions can contact support.

Weather

Allow optional location access or search for a city. Weather data is provided by Open-Meteo under CC BY 4.0; QuietLink rounds device coordinates and presents selected current conditions. Weather may be delayed or unavailable and should not be relied on for emergencies.
